How we review and maintain our content

Water Restoration Pros publishes information to help property owners better understand water damage, restoration services, potential project costs, and available options after water-related damage. Published pages follow a documented editorial process that includes credible sourcing, programmatic review, ongoing monitoring, and regular updates.

The Standards We Follow

Credible sources and clear attribution

We use information from government agencies, public health and emergency-management organizations, restoration industry sources, manufacturers, insurance regulators, public datasets, and other relevant sources.

Material statistics, pricing references, restoration information, insurance-related information, and factual claims are attributed or linked to supporting sources when applicable.

Pricing Methodology

Water Restoration Pros publishes estimated cost ranges to help property owners understand what water damage restoration services may cost.

Our estimates are based on standardized project scenarios that consider the source and extent of the damage, affected materials, project size, drying and extraction requirements, equipment, location, labor requirements, and other relevant factors. Each scenario is reviewed through multiple independent analyses using the same information. We compare the results, remove material outliers when appropriate, and use the remaining findings to develop an estimated low-to-high range.

Technical and safety sources, including restoration standards and government guidance, support claims about cleanup, moisture, materials, and safe work practices. They are not treated as the source of a numeric restoration cost range unless a pricing input is expressly identified below.

Prices shown are research-based estimates, not guaranteed prices or restoration quotes. Your actual project cost will depend on the extent of the damage, property conditions, affected materials, services required, equipment, location, provider, and final scope of work.

We periodically review and update our estimates as pricing information and our methodology evolve.

How the ranges are calculated

  1. Define a standardized residential scope, including the service phase, quantity, water category, access assumptions, included work, and exclusions.
  2. Review independent pricing inputs against the same scope, compare the results, and remove material outliers when appropriate.
  3. Develop the approved national low, typical, and high values, then apply the scenario-specific rounding increment used for public display.
  4. If approved regional data is active, apply the documented labor and nonlabor factors to their respective shares. Otherwise, use and label the national fallback.

Regional pricing inputs

National fallback is active. No approved regional pricing package is currently applied. Location pages use the approved United States national range until reviewed regional inputs are approved and activated.

Programmatically reviewed and monitored

Published pages are checked against our editorial standards for accuracy, source support, restoration terminology, pricing consistency, insurance-related language, grammar, clarity, consistency, and working source links.

The review and monitoring process helps identify information that may be outdated, unsupported, inconsistent, or unclear. Pages are updated when issues are identified or when the information they rely on materially changes.

Water damage is explained in context

Water damage can vary significantly depending on the source of the water, how long the damage has been present, the materials affected, the extent of the moisture, and property-specific conditions.

Visible damage does not always show the full extent of a water-related problem. An on-site evaluation may be necessary to determine affected areas, drying requirements, material damage, and the appropriate restoration services.

Insurance references are general information. Actual insurance coverage depends on the applicable policy, endorsements, exclusions, deductibles, circumstances of the loss, and the insurer's coverage determination.

Information is educational

Our content is intended to help property owners understand water damage, restoration services, potential costs, insurance considerations, and questions to consider when comparing providers.

The information on Water Restoration Pros is general and is not a property inspection, moisture assessment, environmental assessment, restoration plan, insurance coverage determination, or recommendation for a specific course of action. It does not replace an on-site evaluation, written estimate, restoration plan, insurance policy, service agreement, or other project-specific information.

For advice about a specific property or water-related loss, speak with a qualified restoration professional. Questions about insurance coverage should be directed to the applicable insurance carrier, agent, or other appropriately qualified insurance professional.

Water Restoration Pros helps consumers connect with independent service providers. Independent providers determine the services they offer, their pricing, availability, qualifications, recommendations, and the work they perform.
